We’re swapping bricks and mortar for hand tools. As architects, we usually think of form and space, and interpret space three dimensionally at the scale of buildings and places. The same principles apply to the discipline of furniture-making and industrial design. We believe that good design can help change the world…at least in tiny increments. That’s what some tools, materials and products can do.  We’re about hands-on action. We’re enthused by the world of design at all scales. And then, we are enthused about extending this to more than just about the design.

We have recently been working on interesting, smaller scale ‘make’ work that has been driven by some initial ideas, but mostly chance engagements and necessity. We have, since rebooting The Workplace in 2018, had an ongoing interest in the contemporary office, the home office and the ‘study’, and its ergonomics and efficiencies. This has directed us to a series of small projects related to the workspace and a starting point here was the ubiquitous architect’s desk lamp.
